The Star, Guernsey’s first English-language newspaper, was published for the very first time in St Peter Port. Known formally as the Guernsey Weekly Advertiser, it brought islanders news from London, historical anecdotes, poetry, and biographical sketches. It marked a turning point in local media, giving voice to the island’s English-speaking population and laying the groundwork for what would eventually become the Guernsey Press and Star
